We Have Our Own Farm!
When we opened in 1994, you can be sure that we never thought that we'd be growing our own vegetables or have a farm manager on staff.
In March of 2012, Heidi hired a gardener to build the first 8 raised vegetable beds in a small corner of our parking lot. Two weeks later, when sprouts were coming up, Heidi realized the potential for growing more of our own vegetables and herbs. She leased two adjacent city lots and turned that underdeveloped land into what is now our urban farm. Since then, we’ve purchased the building and the three city lots where we have 77 raised beds. We start everything from seed with organic soil. We're growing dozens of varieties of vegetables, herbs, fruits and edible flowers. We’ve also been keeping bees since 2012, and have five beehives.
Each year we harvest thousands of pounds of produce. In 2022 we harvested over 6,800 pounds of produce! Some of our favorite crops have been Watermelon Radishes, Tuscan Kale, Bright Lights Swiss Chard, Brad’s Atomic Grape Tomatoes, Rosa Bianca Eggplant, Pattypan Squash, Ovation Greens, Sylvetta Arugula, Purple Haze Carrots, Chioggia Beets, Genovese Basil, Butternut Squash, Nasturtium, and of course many of the 15 varieties of tomatoes we grow.
