About Big Delicious Planet

Big Delicious Planet is a hidden gem in the industrial corridor of Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. A pioneer in Chicago’s sustainable dining scene, BDP has evolved from a backstage rock ‘n’ roll caterer founded in 1994 to a certified green urban farm-to-table operation that specializes in highly-styled, glamorous weddings and events at venues across the city. Owner Heidi Moorman Coudal, who has been in business for almost three decades, transformed the kitchen’s three adjacent vacant lots into a lush urban farm with 77 raised beds of organic vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and three beehives. In 2013, BDP became the first caterer in the country to earn Four-Star Certified Green Restaurant status from the Green Restaurant Association and still holds the title of “Greenest Caterer in America.”
