A Fond Farewell from Big Delicious Planet.
After 31 incredible years, Big Delicious Planet has officially closed its catering operation. Since 1994, it has been our joy to cook, create, grow food, and celebrate life’s moments — from weddings and special events to concerts, everyday gatherings, and our beloved Urban Farm Dinners.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who trusted us to be part of their stories. To our incredible, creative team, our loyal clients, and many event partners: thank you for helping make Big Delicious Planet such a special company for more than three decades. It has been the honor of a lifetime.
With heartfelt thanks,
Heidi Moorman Coudal, Owner & Founder

Greenest Caterer in America (2013-2026)
For more than a dozen years, BDP held the highest sustainability distinction available to foodservice businesses in the United States. As pioneers in farm-to-table catering, we integrated urban agriculture, composting, renewable energy, and responsible sourcing into every aspect of our operations.
Woman-Owned and Operated
For 31 years, founder and owner Heidi Moorman Coudal guided BDP with creativity, warmth, and vision. She built a company rooted in collaboration and a deep love of thoughtful, beautifully produced events — a spirit that carried through every celebration we were honored to host.
Chicago’s First Caterer with an Urban Farm
In 2012, we planted the first garden beds of what would become the heart of Big Delicious Planet for the next fourteen years. Just steps from our kitchen doors, we grew over 100 varieties of organic produce each growing season exclusively in our own culinary program.
